a KP volunteerKanawha Players depends on a whole community of theatre-loving volunteers and donors who perform all the functions necessary to produce live theatre and keep the organization going.  If you see a place on this page where you can help, please fill out our Volunteer Survey Form.

Of course, actors are volunteers too! If you are an actor (experienced or "want-to-be"), keep watch on our auditions page and note the schedule for actors' workshops and audition-skills FunShops.


Where You Can Help...

Show-Specific Needs

Most of our play productions require assistant directors/stage managers, set designers, costumers, set-building, -painting and -decorating crews, stage crews, etc. etc.  Both experienced helpers and inexperienced helpers are needed. 

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees governs Kanawha Players provides overall direction for the organization and guides the work of officers and committee chairs.

Finance Team

Volunteers for this team are in charge of budget creation, analysis and management. They also do the legal filings, take care of Fund for the Arts requirements, and oversee the box office and season ticket campaign.

Capital Campaign Team

Members Volunteers on this Team will help to raise funds needed to finish the building's conversion to a theater. This Team will identify possible donors and make contact with them regarding the donations.

KP FriendsArtistic Development Team

Members Volunteers for this Team oversee programming such as Briefs & Shorts, plan workshops for the community and provide support as needed to workshop leaders. Also, this Team evaluates artistic director or team, provide feedback and training. They also oversee the play reading Team, develop an annual artistic development plan and assess, evaluate and strengthen the artistic programming for the organization.

Volunteer Development Team

Volunteers for this Team recruit volunteers, manage volunteers by assessment, training, interviewing, and development of volunteer job descriptions and placement. This Team is also in charge of volunteer recognition, receptions, parties, awards and greeters. It also develops and implements a membership plan/drive.

Production Team

Volunteers for this Team assist the artistic director in development of production teams. This includes assessing needs of props, set construction, set transportation, costumes and lighting and sound. Also, for maintaining equipment or stock, and developing a system for collecting, loan and return of props, costumes, etc.

KP VolunteersPublic Relations Team

Volunteers for this Team maintain clear, timely information flow to the community. They also develop an annual marketing plan which includes but is not limited to, identifying media outlets, developing season brochure, development of posters, overseeing volunteer distribution, preparing and distributing press releases, setting up photo shoots for media distribution and lobby displays.

Building and Grounds Team

Volunteers for this Team help to respond to the needs of the building and grounds. This includes assessment of resources. Maintaining a safe and clean building. Maintaining all needed licenses and insurance policies.
